We’ve had a great time during Follow the Frog Week. There have been fantastic promotions, fun events, and loads of social media activity, but none of it would have been as successful without the support of the amazing companies that offer products carrying our little green frog seal. One such company is the Drury Tea and Coffee Company. So today’s blog is focusing on them. In the style of our monthly Who We Work With series, read on to find out more about this family run business…
What is the Drury Tea and Coffee Company?
Drury are specialists in tea blending and coffee roasting.
When and how was Drury started?
Drury was established in 1936. Click here for some history.
How does Drury work?
Within our family are three companies: Drury Tea and Coffee, The Coffee Machine Company and Reginald Ames. We have roughly 40 employees between us. The Coffee Machine Company import the Rancillo Espresso Machines and repair and service within the Greater London Area. They work with distributors throughout the UK. Reginald Ames are in house tea brokerage who purchase all the individual teas on the market. They are also skilled tea tasters and blenders.
What does sustainability mean to Drury?
Sustainability is a very important subject and we take it very seriously. Our Rainforest Alliance Certified Espressos are our fastest growing product due to the quality coffees we can purchase from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms, and the mentality of our customers. We hope we do our bit but the main changes will always have to come from the large corporate companies.
Why the Rainforest Alliance?
It is really down to quality. We have always purchased at the upper level of quality and the coffee farms that produce these coffees are not as heavily affected by the price pinching which happens on the mass produced products.
Tell us something about Drury that we might not know
We are still a family run company now in the third generation. We proudly sell to some of the best and most prestigious restaurants in the country and can boast a larger Espresso range than most companies, we also have an extensive tea list and continue to follow the innovations in the market ( I.E. purchasing a Pyramid Tea Bags machine ).
