Rainforest Alliance’s Green Guide to Father’s Day

With Father’s Day less than a month away, the Rainforest Alliance’s green guide to gifts will help you spoil your dad without spoiling the environment. By giving a gift with the Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal or the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) seal you will be helping to protect the environment and wildlife, and promote sustainable livelihoods of farmers, farm workers and their families around the world.

Breakfast in bed:

Give your dad a lie-in and then take him breakfast in bed. Make sure that the coffee, tea and juice has come from a Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM farm. The little green frog on the packaging – such as on Kenco coffee, PG tips or an Innocent Smoothie – is your assurance that it was grown using methods that protect forests, soils and waterways on farms that provide decent wages, housing, education and health care to workers and their families.

Send a card:

Make sure your Father’s Day card is made out of FSC certified paper – Paper Chase and both offer an FSC option. Or send your dad an E-card – they are environmentally friendly, saving paper, emissions and also money!

The perfect present:

Dad’s love DIY. Or at least we’d love them to love it. So get your dad in the mood for a bit of DIY by getting him a gift or voucher from B&Q, where there are 16,000 items that are made from FSC certified wood to choose from. B&Q UK were founding members of the FSC and since becoming one of the first retailers to develop a responsible timber policy, back in the early 1990’s, has now completed the transformation of their supply chain to achieve their aim of purchasing 100% of its timber from independently verified sources.

Give him a little ‘me’ time

Whilst he’s pottering with his new tools in the garden shed (made out of FSC certified wood of course!), make sure your dad has a sweet treat to keep him going, such as some delicious chocolate from Galaxy or Artisan du Chocolat – both are made from cocoa from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.

Sunday stroll

After spoiling your dad with a home-cooked meal, take him out for a Sunday stroll or a walk in the park and stop off for a delicious Magnum ice cream. The Magnum Ghana and Ecuador range is made with cocoa sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.

Get him something different

For those that want to do away with the traditional gifts why not get your dad…a rainforest! Donate to Adopt-A-Rainforest through to support conservation programmes run by the Rainforest Alliance’s partner organisations in Latin America and give your dad a little slice of Mother Nature!
